Breathtaking hike in Bavigne

Bavigne in Haut-sรปr-Sure is a great spot to go on an outdoor adventure. How about a meandering river in a beautiful valley, a lake with a dam and endless forests. Sounds amazing? We’ll throw the beautiful view – after a challenging climb – in the mix. Admittedly, we felt our legs after almost 10 km of climbing and descending, but the reward is worth it. A very nice hike on a sunny autumn day.

Your hike starts next to the Bรฉiwenerbaach in Bavigne. You start with a strong climb up the landscaped stone ‘steps’. Your efforts are immediately rewarded with a beautiful view of Bavigne and the surrounding area. You follow the water almost the entire hike: sometimes you stand right next to it, sometimes you walk over it via a small bridge or the dam and sometimes you’ll get a great view of the valley. The boys found the climbing a bit difficult at times, but even they had to admit that the view was more than worth it.

Need a break? Stop by the lakefront for a break and enjoy the view and the glistening sun on the water. The boys enjoyed bouncing pebbles as far as they could across the water.

ร‰islek, a beautiful place for hiking

The region ofย ร‰islekย in Luxembourg is doing well to put itself on the map as a true paradise for hikers. They have some good assets in their hands: beautiful nature, lots of water and breathtaking views. But they have also developedย several well-marked walks. You just follow the signs with the logo on them (orange circle – half green circle – half blue circle). So you can hardly walk wrong. You can also download all walks as a gpx file. Unfortunately that didn’t work for us. Therefore we share our own hike as well. You can download it or look it up in the free app Komoot.

Length and difficulty

10 km, with an average level of difficulty. The hike is certainly doable with (practiced) children. You will have to climb and decent a bit and the path can be slippery. Make sure you have sturdy walking shoes and plenty of drinks and snacks with you.
