Welcome to Lacuisine

Welcome to our beautiful village, Lacuisine. No, it’s not a kitchen, but a charming part of Florenville situated in the Gaume region. The village got its name from the Counts of Chiny, who set up their “kitchen” here during their hunts. All thanks to the Semois River that flows through Lacuisine. Now it’s a fantastic spot for kayaking, walking, or horse riding along the riverside. You can even take a swim at the ‘Plage de Lacuisine’. Our holiday home is nestled right here in the middle of the village close to the church. Discover the village, its traditions, and all it has to offer.

Domaine des Épioux

Lacuisine is known for the stunning Domaine des Épioux, a nature reserve where you can enjoy delightful walks along the Semois. The Grand Etang des Epioux is a remnant of the area’s industrial past as an iron forge in the 17th century. The restored forge, alongside the Etang des Epioux, stands as a testament to this history. Close to the lake, a beautiful castle once served as the residence of Prince Napoleon, a nephew of the emperor. The Domain des Épioux offers several gorgeous hikes and has several well-known viewpoints such as Roche de l’Écureuil, Roche Pinco, and Roche du Chat. These spots are definitely worth the uphill climb. On our profile on Komoot, we share several hikes to explore this nature reserve.

Events such as the beautiful Fête de la Lumière

One of the most well-known festivities in the village of Florenville is the enchanting ‘Fête de la Lumière’. Join the locals in chasing the winter away through magical torch-lit processions, lively music, and a roaring bonfire, while toasting to the arrival of spring with a warming cup of ‘Tafia de l’Ours’. In addition to this celebration, a grand brocante takes place in the summer. Furthermore, the neighboring village of Chassepierre organizes an annual street festival, Chassepierre Street Festival, filled with astonishing performances, music, and dancing around the weekend of the 20th of August. Other well-known festivities in Florenville include Florenville Carnaval in April, the Summer Brasserie, and the ‘Potatoefest’ in October

A table!

Given the area’s reputation as ‘the kitchen,’ it’s no surprise that great food is abundant here. For a truly exceptional dining experience, head to the incredible ‘Au coeur de Lacuisine’, located right in the heart of the village. If you’re travelling to Florenville, be sure to stop by Clair de Lune, a fantastic restaurant offering delicious cuisine en route. For a meal with a stunning view, check out Le Moulin Cambier in Chiny. Alternatively, Florenville boasts an array of dining options serving everything from Greek and Chinese to Italian and European cuisine. But for a more intimate and idyllic experience, you could also take your homemade picnic down to the ‘Plage de Lacuisine’ and enjoy it next to the water.
